Lincolnshire's Hidden Secrets

Battle of Briain Memorial FlightLincolnshire was the home of many airfields during World War 2, and RAF Conningsby is today’s home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. During the summer months the BBMF and the Red Arrows display team can frequently be seen flying over Maycroft Cottage on route to display events.

The BBMF operates a Lancaster, five Spitfires, two Hurricanes, two Chipmunks, and a Dakota. In 1986, under a unique arrangement between Lincolnshire County Council and the Royal Air Force, it became possible to view these historic aircraft at their base at RAF Coningsby.

A short drive from Conningsby is the market town of Woodhall Spa, the home of the Dambusters, and well worth a visit. Travel back in time and experience 1940’s nostalgia for tea at Janet’s Tea room.

Avro Lancaster Just JaneThe Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby is not to be missed and a must visit for everyone, especially nostalgic aircraft enthusiasts. Climb aboard and experience a runway taxi ride in WWII Lancaster Bomber ‘Just Jane’.
Enjoy the museum displays as you are time warped back to 1940’s wartime Britain
